Fulton County Local Emergency Planning Committee (FCLEPC)

The Fulton County Local Emergency Planning Committee (FCLEPC) is a local group, appointed by the State Emergency Response Commission, formed to develop and maintain an emergency contingency guide, and to maintain information on chemicals stored in the community.  Organizations are required to send annual inventory reports to the LEPC regarding the type and amount of chemicals at their facilities.

In addition to receiving and maintaining information on accidental releases of hazardous chemicals within the county, the LEPC also:

  • Serves as a focus for community awareness and action concerning the presence of chemicals in the community.

  • Develops a local emergency contingency guide (updated annually) and tests the guide periodically with emergency drills and exercises.

  • Takes civil actions against facilities if they fail to provide the information required under the Emergency Planning & Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA).

  • Provides a resource that offers an opportunity for the public to access information regarding the use and storage of the various chemicals in their community.
